We were required to give Proximity clients a new and exciting idea or product. This document is an analysis of PC world’s blog on a new music service in Europe. We need to include questions that can directly give us ideas of how Europe will respond to different music server from such a big name company.
The service of “MusicStation Desktop”
Already one of the world’s largest technology companies, Hewlett Packard,(I added a comma) seeks to cover a new demographic with (for-sounds better) music lovers in Europe. Hewlett Packard will begin distributing “MusicStation Desktop” via 16 desktop and laptop models sold in 10 different EU nations. Originally a development by the U.K.’s Omnifone Ltd., this new music service will be free for two weeks until a monthly fee will be charged.
Hewlett Packard will need to create a fun and interesting music service,(added comma) due to the fact that Apple Inc.’s “Itunes” launched their European version in 2004. As long as Hewlett Packard will continue to give a free trial run of “MusicStation Desktop” they can grab current users of “Itunes” away from Apple Inc.
people will be whether they want to pay for each song (with “Itunes”), or pay a monthly fee for unlimited songs ( with “MusicStation Desktop”)
Importance of “MusicStation Desktop”
- Provides European music listeners with a reasonable alternative to “Itunes”
- With around 20% of Europe’s PC market, HP already has strong foothold.
Questions for European Music Consumers
- How many songs a month do you download?
- Would a free trial of a lesser known music service tilt you away from you current music server?
- Would you rather pay a monthly fee for unlimited downloads, or pay for each song?
